Hello Pack 112!
As a new school year begins, so does another exciting year for Scouting! First off, I would like to welcome back all our returning Scouts and extend a big Welcome to our new Scouts and their families! Pack 112 is an active, busy Pack, and we pride ourselves on having one of the best programs in Tallahassee.
Meetings Begin...
Regular Meetings start on Monday, 30 August at 6:30pm. We will start with a Pack Meeting to get everyone back up to speed, as well as kick off our annual Popcorn Fundraiser. Get ready to sell that Popcorn!
New Scouts and Families
When is a good time to start Scouting? Any time! Please come by one of our regular meetings and meet the Scouts, Leaders, and families. We have a dedicated group of trained, experienced leaders that would love to welcome your family into Scouting. Pack 112 is very active, and offers a wide array of outdoor and service opportunities all year long. We have at least four Pack camping trips scheduled this year, as well as the Spring Family Trip, hiking, games, and other fun activities.
Upcoming Events
We have several events coming up that you should start thinking about, but the first is the Annual Welcome Back Picnic and Bike Ride on Saturday, August 28th starting at 8am. We will be riding bikes for an hour, then having a breakfast picnic and activities. It'll be a great start to an awesome year. Emails went out this afternoon, and a new page will be up here shortly with more information.
Cub Scouting 2010
BSA National has rolled out a new Cub Scout program for 2010. The vast majority of it is the same, but they have organized it differently and made
it much easier for our leaders. In the past, Den Leaders and the Cubmaster created the plan for the year and mapped out what would be done when.
With Cub Scouting 2010, all of that is done for us - which really makes our lives much easier. All of the scouts will be following the
rank meeting plans, and should progress steadily through rank requirements as the year progresses. Most of our Scout should earn rank in February,
to coincide with Blue and Gold.
If you have further questions, see Mr. Merrick or your Den Leader.
New Website
We are working on revamping Tallyscouts.com, our home on the web, to make it more useful to our families and Leaders. To that end, we are looking for a volunteer to take over as webmaster/public affairs person. Interested? Talk to Mr. Merrick or come by a committee meeting for more info.
